What does the New Orleans Police Department physical exam consist of when applying to be a police recruit?
I can’t find the info on the websites, so call the NOPD Recruiting Department at 504-658-5575 9 am – 5 pm CST. However, the physical agility test will be very standard with segments like a 440 yard run in X minutes, walk a balance beam, pull the trigger on a pistol X times in X seconds, complete a basic obstacle course, and so on. It is intended to screen out those who are truly not physically fit or healthy. Note that the negative answers are completely out of line. It is true that about 15% of the force abandoned their posts sometime during the crisis of the first week after Katrina struck on 08/29/05. They were all fired. The other 85% of the force stayed at their posts under apocalyptic conditions. Good luck!
