The name Hoyt is a name for a male that may have been borrowed from a Germanic name which means ‘shining mind’. A famous place that has this name is the Hoyt Arboretum that is situated on top of a ridge in the west hills of Portland in Oregon, United States. It spans an area of 185 acres and was established in the year 1928 by a group of spokespersons of the timber industry, along with the US Forest Service, the Portland Parks department and with the support of nature enthusiasts.
