What does the May Contain statement on pack really mean?
It means the product in question may contain the ingredients listed in this statement, typically as a result of what we call ‘cross-contamination’. For example, we might use a piece of baking equipment to make a product that contains peanuts, then use that same piece of equipment to make a product that doesn’t contain peanuts. Even though we take great care to clean that piece of equipment between batches, there’s a possibility that the second product could be exposed to trace elements of peanuts. So the ‘May Contains’ statements help people who suffer from all types of food allergies to make safe and informed decisions about our products.
