What does the learning assessment process entail?
Students suspected of having a learning disability and who have no documentation will be asked to complete an in-depth self-evaluative questionnaire. Upon completion, the questionnaire will be reviewed by the counselor and an appointment will be scheduled to go over the information provided with the student. A determination as to the appropriate referral will be made at that time. Students who are ultimately referred to outside professionals for psychological testing and/or those whose academic difficulties are found to be due to other types of disabilities, the students will also be referred to the Coordinator of Assistive Technology Services within the Center who will assess their ability to benefit from the assistive technology that is available both within the Center and throughout the College. If the student is found to benefit, he or she will be trained by the Coordinator on the technology that best meets his or her needs.
