What does the JMI tuition include?
We believe that the cost of each JMI session is highly competitive with comparable hiking trips that charge as much as 2 or 3 times as much as the JMI tuition. Furthermore, our tuition includes the use of ALL the major gear necessary for a successful and enjoyable thru-hike of the John Muir Trail. The gear that is provided includes: -Lightweight Granite Gear Backpack -Lightweight Sleeping Bag rated at 20 degrees F -Sleeping Pad -Stove and Cook set -Lightweight backpacking tent -National Park approved Bear Canister The tuition also includes: -Van transportation to and from the Reno, Nevada airport, as well as to and from the trailhead -Van transportation to and from all resupply points including Bishop, CA -All food in the backcountry -All lodging accommodations in Reno and Bishop The tuition does not include: -Air transportation to and from Reno, Nevada -All personal gear needed for the trip (clothing, shoes, camera, etc.
