First, the internal input isolation transformer helps protect the UPS electronics from input power aberrations so that they can better protect the users’ critical load. Secondly, it provides a separately derived source; this has two important benefits: 1) it corrects the damaging effects of line-neutral reversals, and 2) it establishes a re-referenced ground point eliminating common mode noise and potential ground loops among load equipment.
