What does the Georgia state seal mean?
The arch of the Constitution is supported by three pillars representing the three forms of government–executive, legislative and judicial. The words “Wisdom, Justice, and Moderation” is the state motto. All are protected by a guardian which appears to be a Revolutionary War soldier. The date “1776”, the date of the Declaration of Independence, replaced the date “1789,” which was the year the seal was adopted, in 1914.
