What does the Filter button do under Surface in Action?
The “filtering” button showed up in flame 6.0/inferno 3.0. The “Surface->Filter” button applies when you select “Texture On” rendering. Action is designed to “move things around”, which means that the images applied to a layer need to be resampled in order to adjust for the 3D transformation applied to the layer. Any kind of resampling implies a modification of the image, which can lead to some softening. If you are doing a “straight” composite without applying any transformation to the image, then you may be able to detect some of this softening. By turning “Surface->Filter” to OFF, you will get exactly the same result as the original image, as if you had done a straight, pixel by pixel, 2D composite without any transformation on the image. Note that you ONLY want to do this for images without any transformations: if you start moving the image around have have Filter turned “OFF”, you will get horrible aliasing/blockyness. With Filter Off, if you move anything, you will get the equiva
