What does the Ezra Jack Keats Foundation do?
The EJK Foundation oversees the continuing publication of Ezras books, making sure that the quality of the production meets the high standard required by Ezra. The Foundation is responsible for administering any business connected with the books, such as film adaptations, posters, books based on Ezras characters or new formats (coloring books, etc.) Film companies wishing to make documentaries about Ezras life, work with the Foundation, as do companies wishing to make electronic games or toys centered on Ezras stories and characters. The Foundation evaluates proposals for the funding of programs that are then administered by the institutions that have received the funds. We answer the letters still written to Ezra every day by educators, parents and children. This is one of our favorite jobs.
