What does the extra provision of defibrillation equipment mean, surely that is a paramedic role?

The defibrillation equipment is being supplied through joint funding with the British Heart Foundation. Extra units are to be provided on certain vehicles across the fleet to compliment the defibrillators currently being used in Haslemere. They are to be used when appropriate by Fire Service personnel. Surrey Ambulance supports this proposal and will be providing the training. This proposal is just to increase the amount of life saving equipment in the community, similar, to the provision of defibrillators in some supermarkets.
