What does the expedition minimum contribution cover?
Your minimum contribution covers the most basic research costs, such as room and board, research permits, basic scientific equipment, on-site staff, carbon offsets, basic insurance, and more. The contribution does not cover your travel to the rendezvous site and, in some cases, additional costs may exist so please check with your Volunteer Advisor if you have any questions. In addition to these basic costs, there are still many other expenses we have to fund through fundraising, partnerships, and other channels. These additional expenses can include other research equipment, field costs related to pre-fielding and site visits, training, administrative back-up, educational initiatives and outreach, capacity development projects and a broad range of other programs. As such, any contribution you can make above the minimum will help Earthwatch carry out our broader mission more effectively.
