What does the Episcopal Church believe?

The Episcopal church was formed shortly after the American revolution when, charged with treason, they were forced to break with the Church of England. They consider themselves to be protestant, yet Catholic. The Episcopalians are known as proponents of the Social Gospel.

In the Episcopal Church, we believe the things that are common to all Christians. We believe in the Trinity (God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit) and in the truths of the Christian faith found in the Apostles’ Creed. We believe he Holy Scriptures are the inspired Word of God and contain all things necessary to salvation. Our approach is to use the stories and lessons scripture as the foundation for our spiritual journey. Church of the Holy Spirit encourages real questions from real people, and commits to help us find the answers that are right for us – in a Christian context. As such, we make room for differences in opinion and belief, while encouraging all to join around the table to celebrate the Eucharist.
