What does the ELCA Malaria Campaign look like in the ELCA?
The 2009 ELCA Churchwide Assembly voted overwhelmingly to begin initial malaria campaign activities in the ELCA. ELCA Malaria Campaign staff have designed a framework for synods to share with congregations and affiliated ministries on their territory. The ELCA Malaria Campaign will involve education, fund-raising and awareness-raising efforts. This framework is being tested in Pilot Synods across the ELCA in 2010 and 2011. In August of 2011, the ELCA Churchwide Assembly will consider an action that would roll out the ELCA Malaria Campaign to the whole ELCA. The ultimate goal is that every ELCA synod will join the ELCA Malaria Campaign in the efforts to contain malaria in Africa.
