What does the Ekiti rerun election indicate about the type of democracy we practice in Nigeria?
You yourself should be able to answer that question. You are a Nigerian too. Though you are a reporter, but then, you are a Nigerian who knew what happened during Ekiti rerun election. You have your own opinion. And I think your opinion is the same as mine. It is a disaster. And funny enough, most of those that went to Ekiti to perpetrate all these havoc were at Ghana to watch how elections should be run. They went to South Africa; they saw how decent people behave. And yet, they are the same people that came to Ekiti to perpetrate electoral fraud. That tells you what kind of democracy we have. We don’t even have one. We don’t have democracy in Nigeria. The other time, people were talking about internal democracy within the parties. We saw the way people stood against it immediately. Our own kind of democracy is unique. I have never seen this kind of democracy in my life. It is only available in Nigeria.
