What does the “Duplicate UUID used” posting error mean?
eBay responded with the message:
Code: 488
Short Message: Duplicate UUID used.
Long Message: The specified UUID has already been used; ListedByRequestAppId=1, item ID=123456789987. This posting error is caused by a certain situation that occurs. What is happening is that when we post a listing to eBay, eBay sometimes will return to us some generic error. Usually, when we get these errors, we just retry the listing. What happens most of the time is that eBay actually still posts the listing. However, since we retry, this posting error that you are getting is returned to us. Our system is suppose to recognize this and find the listing that eBay did actually post despite the first generic error that was returned to us. However, this is no longer happening. What is happening now is that we are not recognizing that the listing has posted on the first try and we are reporting this posting error.
