The Department has been monitoring the centrally sponsored schemes for cleaning the River Cauvery, Vaigai and Tamiraparani along various towns viz., Tiruchy, Kumarapalayam, Bhavani, Thanjavur, Kumbakonam, Karur, Mayiladuthurai, Madurai and Tirunelveli. Environmental upgradation through bioremediation of Ooty and Kodaikanal Lakes are being undertaken under National Lake Conservation Programme. The activities are being coordinated with the implementing agencies like Metro Water (CMWSSB), Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage Board (TWAD) and PWD.
