County Road numbers are assigned to all roads for emergency services purposes. If a road has a County Road number, this does not necessarily mean that the County is responsible for maintenance of the road. Only certain roads are “accepted” by the County Road and Bridge Department for maintenance. Each September, the Board of County Commissioners has public hearings to determine which roads will be accepted for maintenance.
