What does the City of Gardner lose by de-annexing the land for the proposed intermodal and Logistics Park?
In short, millions of dollars. Studies have shown that annexing the intermodal facility into the city limits of Gardner would have created more than $41.5 Million tax dollars over the next 20 years. The City of Gardner’s total assessed valuation for 2009 is $135 Million. The Allen Group is proposing 7 Million square feet of warehouses. If the warehouses cost $50 per square foot to build, they will have an assessed valuation of over $87 million. This project will have a significant impact on our local tax base. After de-annexation, those revenues will go to the City of Edgerton. More information on the economic impact of this development can be found on our documents page.
