What Does the Citgo Team Do With a Weekend Off?
Huntersville, N.C. (May 8, 2002) – While most of America looks forward to Saturday’s and Sunday’s off, the No. 99 CITGO team is just going to work. However, in celebration of Mother’s Day the NASCAR Winston Cup Series is taking this weekend off. The No. 99 team has plans ranging from a vacation in Florida to staying at home and doing nothing. And driver Jeff Burton, well, he’s going racing. “We decided to take the No. 9 GAIN Ford Taurus to New Hampshire this weekend,” said Burton. “We’ve been running well and I really wanted to race. The track has a new groove so it will be a great way to see how it effects the racing.” In addition to the No. 9 GAIN team, No. 99 CITGO crew chief Frank Stoddard will join the team in New Hampshire along with the No. 99 gasman, Donnie Ratledge. While this part of the team spends this weekend like they do 36 other weekends a year, others are utilizing their time to be with their families.
