A certified sampling technician is authorized to collect dust samples or paint samples from the job site, send those samples to a recognized laboratory, and compare the results to established clearance levels to determine if the job site does have lead paint in or on it. The reasons you might want to do this is because if there is no lead paint at the job site (where you are going to actually perform work) then you do not need to comply with this new rule.
