What does the Canadian Red Cross do?
The Canadian Red Cross helps those who need it most. In 1909, the Federal Government passed the Canadian Red Cross Society Act, which legally established the Red Cross as the corporate body responsible for providing volunteer aid in accordance with the Geneva Conventions. Our mission is to improve the lives of vulnerable people by mobilizing the power of humanity in Canada and around the world. We provide a wide range of assistance to millions of people in Canada through our national Disaster Services program and our injury prevention services (such as Water Safety and First Aid) and through community outreach programs. We also help the worlds most vulnerable populationsvictims of armed conflicts and communities destroyed by devastating disastersthrough our international programs.
