What does the Bureau of Immigrant Workers Rights do?
• educates workers about their labor rights in their communities; • partners with community groups to bridge cultural and language barriers; and • connects immigrant workers with Department of Labor services. We also work to: • make Department of Labor services more accessible and responsive to immigrant workers; • design effective new programs for immigrant workers by talking with advocacy groups, elected officials, and other government agencies; and • offer people help with job-related issues outside our mission, such as human rights abuses and workers’ compensation. The Bureau also supports employers who want to comply with the law. We offer training that teaches businesses how to comply with state labor and employment laws on: • pay, • workplace safety, • unemployment insurance, and • workers’ compensation (among other topics).
