What does the Board of Visitors (BOV) student representative do?
The student member and/or alternate serve as a liaison for student concerns. The student member is appointed to the Student Affairs Committee and encouraged to attend other committee meetings. It is recommended that the student member attend board social functions to enhance the visibility of the position. It is suggested that the student member provide a synopsis of the discussion of the board meetings and upcoming agenda items in a Broadside column. This provides a vehicle for informing students about issues relative to their concerns and also allows the member to become accessible to the general student population. In the past, the student member has contacted other BOV student members from Virginia state universities as a resource for developing new ideas. This might include hosting an informal workshop.
