What does the Board mean by stating that dental auxiliaries must be under the “direct” supervision of a licensed Mississippi dentist?
• As noted earlier, all dental auxiliaries must be under the “direct” supervision of a licensed Mississippi dentist. The Board has defined the term “direct” supervision to mean the following: • A dentist is physically present in the dental office or treatment facility, personally diagnoses the condition to be treated, authorizes the procedures to be performed, remains in the dental office or treatment facility while the procedures are being performed by the auxiliary, and evaluates the performance of the dental auxiliary. Refer to Board Regulation 13.
