What does the bible say the punishment for adultery is?
Under Mosaic Law, the penalty for a conviction of adultery is death. Note, however, that adultery is defined in Mosaic Law as sexual relations between a married or engaged woman and someone other than her husband. Thus, so-called “husbandly adultery” – the case where a married man has sexual relations with an unmarried woman – is permitted. The New Testament tells us that the penalty for adultery is a loss of eternal life – UNLESS that adultery is repented and forsaken (stopped).
