What does the bible say about poker?
This question is often debated by religous scholars because there is nothing in the bible that directly attacks gambling itself however it is made clear on deveral occations inside verse that the gambling as both a vice and an act of irrisponsibility is against the ideas of christian dogma and ethics. To put this simply the act of gambling is irrisponsible and against God because: • it involves a chance of gain at the expense and suffering of others • because it is a disregard of responsible stewardship • because it is inconsistent with the work ethic of Scripture. • because it tends to be habit forming However many modern Christians believe that as long as the form of gambling hyour taking part in is safe and in no way harming the “losers” of the game then it can just be a way of having fun. The important distinction is gaining or losing significant merit or material simply by playing a game of chance. The bottom line is the bible is against the “vice” of gambling but not the “concept
