What does the Australian accent sound like to the British?
I’m British and I’d say we generally think the Australian accent sounds cool, we like it. It perhaps does have some comical connotations due to shows like Neighbours and people like Dame Edna, but not in a bad way. I think we stereotypically associate it with people living a good life spending lots of time on beaches, surfing and enjoying bbqs, and are quite jealous because this is quite far removed from the average British existence!
