What does the Arbnor/Bjerke Methodological Principle of Complementarity mean?
“The potential interdependency in opposite methodological opinions of similar problems is to be used for excellent explanations and/or understanding of them. The principle implies that there are many such problems with this kind of inherent interdependency, which cannot fully be treated by only one of the approaches, in question. Therefore, it is possible and desirable to use complementarity in studies faced with multifaced problems”. (See Box 13.2. in the book) 14.
