What Does the Appendicular Skeleton System Consist Of?
The human skeleton has two main regions–axial and appendicular. The axial region of the skeleton contains the bones that form the center-line of the body, such as the skull, ribs and vertebral column. The appendicular region contains the bones of the limbs and the bones that join the limbs to the axial skeleton. Altogether there are 126 bones in the appendicular skeleton.
