What does the annual $76 membership fee pay for?
The College is a member-funded organisation. The annual membership fee allows the College to: • provide professional regulation which protects all members of the profession from unqualified people claiming to be teachers; • provide professional regulation which promotes the profession in the community so people can be assured that all teachers are qualified, screened for a criminal record and fit to teach; • assess overseas qualification against Australian qualifications; • publish and promote professional standards in the interests of all teachers; • support graduate teachers, returning teachers and others through its provisional registration program; • accredit initial teacher education programs to ensure that teachers entering the profession are suitably educated; • provide professional learning programs for teachers who wish to become mentors and to assist relief teachers; • provide all members with a access to an electronic copy of the Research Digest , a regularly-published commi
