What does the Aga Khan Education Services do?
The Aga Khan Education Service, Pakistan is one of the largest private network of education institutions in Pakistan. It was among the earliest non-governmental education providers in the region, establishing its first school in 1905 in Gwadar, Balochistan. As a direct education provider, AKES, P operates 186 schools and 4 hostels and facilitates over 200 community based initiatives while working with 100 public/private partner schools across Pakistan. These institutions provide access to education to approximately 75,000 students, 75% of whom are in rural areas. More than 2200 people work for the Service, of which more than 70% are teachers.
