What does the 2000 Motor Trend Truck of the Year award really mean ?
To tell the truth: Absolutely Nothing. Motor Trend has a tendency to give the Truck of The Year award to the manufacturer who does something really innovative with their model line. This includes styling changes (read, exterior sheet metal), major engine changes, best value, or major driveline changes. Each of the major manufacturers have won the same award recently. Dodge won when they did their Peterbilt style design, Ford won when they introduced the new style F150, and so did Chevy/GMC when they redid the C/K 1500 series in 1999 and the 2500HD in 2001.
