What Does Term Legato Mean?
The term-legato refers to an Italian musical notation. Legato literally means “tied together” it is indicative of the fact that the musical notes are played very swiftly and smoothly. It means that there ought to be no interrupting silence at the time when the notes are played. This technique is usually required for garbled performance. Legato on a normal basis does not forbid rearticulation. When legato is indicated in a standard way, it is indicated as legato itself in the form of a word or it is represented as a curved line which is placed under or over the notes which have to be joined in a group of legato.
