What does Stanford University offer in terms of geography, social life, academia?
Stanford offers a world-class education, a gorgeous campus with exceptional resources, study abroad options around the globe, a wealth of opportunities, and a student body that according to the Princeton Review’s Survey of Colleges & Universities is the happiest in the nation. Admission is exceptionally difficult, and this year was the hardest in the history of the school due to a 20% increase in applicants. Over 30,000 people applied for 2400 spots, and the admit rate was just 7%. The majority of classes are rigorous, and pre-med ones are most likely even more challenging. Stanford is about 40 minutes to an hour from San Francisco and six hours from LA. Palo Alto is a relatively quiet town, but there are still plenty of parties and a great social scene.
