What Does SR22 Insurance Accomplish?
SR22 does two things: 1. It proves to the state that you have the minimum coverage required in your state to drive. 2. It lifts the driving suspension order which was applied by the court at the time of your conviction. Unfortunately, if you’ve had multiple convictions, your license may be suspended and even SR22 may not be an option at this point. In most States including Illinois, you’re going to have to carry the SR22 Insurance with a clean driving record for 1 to 2 years. The DWI itself will stay on a persons driving record for 10 years. Additionally, as people find out, they may have to pay fines, do community time and take additional driving courses that are state authorized.
