What does SouthWings expect of its volunteer pilots?
We count on SouthWings pilots to be reliable, safe and conscientious in their flying practices. People who fly with SouthWings come from all walks of life, and, at times, the flights are high profile and documented by the media. We seek pilots who use good judgment to operate aircraft safely. Potential scenarios include flying at precisely indicated airspeeds and the ability to position the aircraft for photography at the slower portion of the speed regime, safely, smoothly while always exercising good judgment in selecting safe altitudes, speeds and routes. Pilots must be willing to decline any scenarios that the pilot feels may not be safe, including postponing or canceling a flight if it cannot be conducted safely. Finally, we expect pilots to maintain current status with SouthWings by supplying updated information annually and to file follow-up reports to the SouthWings’ staff upon completion of a flight. Please understand that volunteer flying opportunities of any kind are not for
