What Does Sonoran Mean?
Sonoran is the name of the desert located in the Northern part of the United States of America. It is part of the American states of Arizona, California and the Mexican states of Sonora. It is a desert of 120,000 square miles where ground snakes are found. The Sonoran desert is located at latitude 25° to 33° north and longitude 105° to 118° west. It is unlike any other desert where one would find hills of sand and nothing else. Sometimes, it rains heavily during the summers in the desert and beautiful flowers bloom in the desert if it had rained earlier during the summers. There are various plants which grow in the desert such as Barrel Cactus, brittle bush, desert Ironwood, Chain Fruit Cholla, Creosote Bush, Velvette Mesquite and many more. The climate of the desert is the wittiest amongst the deserts in the world as it rains heavily during the summers as well as in the winters.
