What Does Soledad Mean?
Soledad is the name of several places all across the globe. The name Soledad simply means ‘solitude’. There is a city named Soledad in Colombia and another in the Honduras. In addition there is also a town called Soledad in the state of California in the USA. The Soledad in California is a small town situated in Monterey County. According to the census of 2000 its population was approximately 11,623 people. It gets its name from the original mission from Spain Mission Nuestra Señora de la Soledad. It was founded by Fermin Francisco and was the thirteenth mission to California. There were twenty one in all. Soledad is a wine connoisseur’s paradise. Not only is it one of California’s premiere wine growing regions but it also has over twenty wineries and vineyards. Many of these have tasting rooms and all of them have excellent quality wines for sale.
