What does scan velocity modulation do?
Scan velocity modulation (some manufacturers call it velocity modulation scanning) enhances sharpness by regulating the electron guns that project the picture onto the screen. Scan velocity modulation changes the guns’ firing speed when the picture goes from dark to bright, ensuring that edges of objects remain sharp. It’s most visible when you turn up the sharpness or detail control when carefully done, it can increase sharpness without increasing noise.
