What does SAI Platform think of the EU CAP reform?
SAI Platform welcomes the further decoupling of support from production. The reform is based on a single decoupled income payment per farm with cross-compliance requirements involving aspects of environment, animal welfare and food safety standards thus reinforcing the promotion of “good farming practices”. Decoupling is expected to encourage farmers to respond to market signals generated by consumer demand rather than by a policy of quantity related incentives.
