What does routine health maintenance for an infant/toddler/child include?
Most of the visits during the first year are focused on growth and development. There are many vaccines that are required/recommended during this time also. As the child approaches one year of age a TB test, a lead test and a hematocrit are in order. As the child grows booster vaccines are in order and further checks on growth and development. Eventually yearly or less frequent exams are required. This may be different if there is a problem like a murmur or asthma that requires monitoring. Eye and dental exams are recommended even for children. Cholesterol and blood pressure assessments may be in order several times during childhood.
