What does rhesus negative mean?
Everyone has a blood group (A, B, O or AB), and everyone is also either positive or negative, depending on whether they have ‘rhesus’ markers in their blood. One is six women is rhesus negative. If you’re rhesus negative and your baby is rhesus positive and your blood comes into contact with your baby’s blood, your antibodies will attack the rhesus positive blood cells.
