Credibility and acceptance of LCA studies means, that the best quality and harmonised up-to-date LCI data, reflecting industrial reality is used as basis for these LCA studies. Such data sets will be the “reference” LCI data sets in the ELCD database and are to be used mandatory in future, when life cycle related studies are submitted to the Commission in context of stakeholder input to policy making. The first version of the ELCD database has not undergone a full harmonisation yet and contains hence no reference data in the stricter sense yet.
