What does “Red sky in the morning, sailor take warning, red sky at night, sailors delight” mean?
It means that normally if the sky is red at night (sunset) the weather will be good, with steady winds (for those old sailing ships). Where as a red sky in the morning indicates that the weather is most likely to become FOUL…with either no winds, or a storm that will make sailing a bigger challenge than it is.
