What Does Pudge Mean?
Pudge is the term used when describing a person who is of rather short stature and is slightly fat. It is not an overtly offensive term but is almost never used in a respectful context. Some examples are ‘The man buying popcorn was pudgy type’ There are two famous Major League Baseball players who are nicknamed ‘Pudge’. One is Carlton Fisk and the other is Ivan Rodriguez. Fisk was born in Bellows Falls in Vermont. His career spanned twenty four years. He played with the Chicago White Sox and the Boston Red Sox. Fisk is quick to point out that he is more a native of New Hampshire since he was raised here. He graduated from Charlestown High School which is also in New Hampshire. Interestingly he was a basketball player at the University of New Hampshire. Ivan Rodriguez was born in Vega Baja in Puerto Rico in 1971. He presently plays for the Detroit Catchers.
