What does provisional approval mean?
Provisional approval is granted by the Virginia State Board of Nursing when a school has demonstrated that it has the academic, physical and financial resources to prepare students to successfully pass the National Licensing Exam upon graduation. Provisional approval allows the university to advertise and admit students. Obtaining provisional approval is a significant accomplishment and the first step toward full approval which is granted only after two years of graduates successfully pass the licensing exam.
