What does pre- authorisation mean?
Before the arrival time, many providers, such as hotels and casinos, do a “pre-authorisation” of the credit card. A pre-authorisation is a validity check of your credit card. This “blocks” an amount which could range from one night to the entire cost of a reservation. This is a precaution that the providers take in case of no show or late cancellation. The amount should be “unblocked” within 1 or 2 weeks.
