What does power save mode do? What is standby?

When your computer goes into power save mode it enters a state of decreased power consumption. Your monitor(s) will turn off and your computer will stop running processes. None of your programs will be closed, you do not need to worry about losing any unsaved work, and you will not need to wait for your computer to reboot when you wake it up. Standby is another term for power save mode.
