What does Polonius have against Hamlet?

I don’t know if Polonius hates Hamlet in the strictest sense of the term. Hamlet does mess with Polonius through a bit of wordplay. I think Polonius is protecting his daughter and making sure Hamlet hasn’t lost his mind due to his father’s death. Either that or he wants Ophelia to respect Hamlet’s mourning period, which has gone on longer than necessary. As far as spying, Claudius is the only one that truly spies on Hamlet through Rosencrantz and Guildenstern. Polonius in the bedroom scene is there because of inconvenient timing and Lady Gertrude’s request. So, I don’t think Polonius had many grievances against Hamlet other than Hamlet treating him like an idiot.
