What does normal (default) and high priority while sending a text message with Verizon Wireless mean?

I’m not too sure about this but i think this is related to the message expiry data, Most the time the normal (default) setting on the phone is that the message expires in the next 24 hours of sending it BUT when you choose the “priority” option it will extend the expiry time from 24 hours to 72 hours.
